How to temporarily map a network drive

  1. Go to the Start menu and click Run...

     
  2. In the dialog box that appears, type \\servername\sharename
    i.e. \\fileserver.isber.ucsb.edu\isber-public

How to map a network drive on a Mac

  1. Go to the Go menu and click on Connect to Server...

     
  2. Then enter smb:// and then the path to the folder of server you would like to connect to and click Connect.
    i.e. smb://fileserver.isber.ucsb.edu/isber-public

How to map a network drive in Windows

  1. Open My Computer. This can either be found on your Desktop or in the Start menu.
  2. Select Tools from the menu and click on Map Network Drive.

     
  3. Enter the path to the folder or server you would like to connect to.
    i.e. \\fileserver.isber.ucsb.edu\isber-public
  4. Check the Reconnect at logon box.
