How to upgrade to AVG 9

  1. AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 9.0 can be downloaded here: http://download.cnet.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10320142.html?tag=mncol
  2. Click Next.

     
  3. Select the radio button for Install only basic free protection (AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition) and then click Next.

     
  4. Wait for AVG to finish downloading the necessary installation files. This may take up to 10 minutes depending on your internet speed.

     
  5. Select the checkbox for I have read the license agreement and click Accept.

     
  6. Select the radio button for Custom Installation and then click Next.

     
  7. Leave the default values (your values won't look the same) and click Next.

     
  8. Again, leave the default value. If you have 64-bit Windows it should look like the image below, otherwise it should read C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG9. Click Next.

     
  9. Select the checkboxes exactly as they appear below and then click Next.

     
  10. Uncheck both boxes for AVG Security Toolbar and Set Yahoo! as my default search engine, then click Next.

     
  11. Wait while AVG installs.

     
  12. Select Weekly scanning, we recommend late in the evening on Fridays (or whenever you won't be working on the computer). Also select Enable automatic scan of removable devices, then click Next.

     
  13. Uncheck I agree to provide anonymouse information... then click Finish.
